About Toki Mabogunje
Toki Mabogunje is a business development consultant interested in the growth of enterprises on the African continent. Toki’s core interests are value chain development, project financing, strategic organization and management, legal and business advisory services, and business support services.
Toki has worked in the public and the private sector and has attained a well-rounded perspective of business enterprise in Nigeria, Africa and Globally. Toki is the Vice Chair Africa for the World Chamber Federation of the International Chamber of Commerce Paris; the Immediate Past President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI); National Vice President, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA); Chairperson Shelter Origins (a housing NGO); Board Member Convention on Business Integrity (CBi); Board Member Negotiation and Conflict Management Group (NCMG); Board Member WISCAR; Board Member Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria; Former Vice President (South West) Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Life Member Enterprise Development Center (EDC) of Pan Atlantic University; Life Member Graduate School of Business, Stanford University; amongst others.
Toki loves impacting positively on society. In recognition of her contributions, Toki has received numerous awards, including the outstanding volunteer award 2003 from Fate Foundation; an Achievement award by the Ghana Association of Women Entrepreneurs (GAWE) in 2009 for breaking the glass ceiling; the volunteer award for 10 years of dedicated service in 2010 by Fate Foundation, after which she was inducted into the Fate Foundation Hall of Fame; the Mentor of the Year Award 2009 by Idea Builders & Vital Voices of America. She mentors young entrepreneurs through structured mentoring programs with Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR); Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ); YOUWIN program of the Federal Government. She is a Super Mentor to NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW). She developed 2 mentoring programs at the LCCI, the first was a City Chamber mentoring program, where for 2 years professionals at the LCCI mentored businesses in Abeokuta and Ibadan Chambers of Commerce. The second is a mentoring program for young entrepreneurs which is in its 8th year and has mentored about 300 businesses. She has recently developed a 5 year mentoring program for students of her Alma Mata, Holy Child College, in partnership with Leap Africa (a leadership and youth NGO) and CDNet which is in its 5th year.
Toki expresses her creativity by writing poetry. Some of her poems were published in the PEN Anthology “A Melody of Stones” published to commemorate Prof. Wole Soyinka’s 70th Birthday. Amongst her many contributions, she has co-authored an anthology of poetry with her son titled THE DUET in 2009. The DUET was performed on stage to raise money for the Sickle Cell Foundation in 2011. In recognition of her support of the arts, the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (NANTAP) Lagos Chapter, awarded her the World Theatre Day Personality and Cultural Ambassador 2014 and that year NANTAP staged the performance as part of FESTINA. The British Council in February 2016 supported the DUET performance as part of the Lagos Theatre Festival.
